Pérez, Project Manager
Marina Pérez
joined Consensus Planning Group in February 2007 bringing with her
seventeen years of bilingual community outreach and education experience.
Prior to working for Consensus Planning Group, Ms. Pérez
worked for one of the largest public works programs in the nation,
the Los Angeles Unified School District, New Construction Program.
For close to five years she served as a liaison developing outreach
strategies to best inform and engage the community, community based
organizations, Board of Education, as well as school and elected
officials in the various phases of the new school construction process
which included project definition, site selection, CEQA, environmental
review, relocation/acquisition, and design of new schools. Ms. Pérez
organized briefings and presentations to key stakeholders and facilitated
community meetings, workshops, and tours. She also organized and
planned groundbreaking and ribbon cutting ceremonies of new schools.
Most
recently she worked with the State of California Department of Toxic
Substances Control, Office of External Affairs as a Public Participation
Specialist where she was responsible for engaging the community
in environmental remediation projects.
Ms.
Pérez has a background in working with diverse populations,
providing bilingual community outreach and health education on various
issues. She has worked with the County of Los Angeles Department
of Health Services and Juvenile Court Services, County of San Diego
Department of Health Services and Children’s Hospital Los
Angeles’ Division of Adolescent Medicine and Center for Cancer
and Blood Diseases. Her commitment to health issues extends to her
work with Padres Contra El Cáncer (Parents Against Cancer)
a childhood cancer charity dedicated to improving the lives of children
with cancer and their families.
Ms.
Pérez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from
the University of California, Santa Barbara and is currently working
on a Masters in Public Administration at California State University,
Northridge. She is fluent in Spanish and resides in the San Fernando
Valley with her daughter Chloé.
