Public Outreach Program for the 101/405 Interchange Improvement Projects
Consensus Planning Group managed the public outreach program for the 101/405 Interchange Improvement Projects to increase capacity and improve traffic flow at and around the interchange, the 7th most congested in the nation. This project was jointly undertaken by Caltrans, the Federal Highway Administration, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation, Congressman Brad Sherman, and various other elected officials.
Based on public feedback early in the process, three individual improvement projects were chosen and refined, and a Project Study Report (PSR) was developed for each of the three.
Consensus Planning Group was responsible for developing and implementing the outreach strategy, preparing public information materials, managing public workshops, scheduling and facilitating key stakeholder briefings, analyzing the issues, and developing recommendations leading to consensus. In addition to the actual public outreach activities, Consensus Planning Group had the challenging task of managing within a highly politicized environment and coordinating the outreach effort with multiple clients.
